Local Ertiga packages in Chennai — and where “local” ends
An hourly package is simple until someone disagrees about the boundary, so here is where the boundary actually is.
Chennai sprawls further than most people’s mental map of it. The city’s administrative limits and the city as it is lived are not the same shape, and the gap is exactly where hourly-package arguments happen.
Inside a local package: central Chennai, Mylapore and Adyar, T Nagar, Velachery, Anna Nagar, Guindy, and the inner OMR stretch as far as Perungudi and Thoraipakkam.
Not local — priced per kilometre: Sriperumbudur, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu, Mahabalipuram and the far end of OMR past Siruseri.
We tell you which applies when you book. Discovering the boundary at the end of the day, with a bill in your hand, is how a reasonable fare turns into a dispute.
Garage-out to garage-in
Package hours and kilometres run from the time the car leaves our base to the time it returns — not from when you got in. That is the market standard, and we state it because operators who leave it unstated are relying on the assumption going the other way.
What an 8hr/80km day actually holds in Chennai
Eighty kilometres does not go far in this traffic, and any itinerary that treats the city as fast-moving will not survive contact with a weekday afternoon. A realistic full-day plan is three or four stops, grouped by area, not six spread across the city.
The pairings that work are the ones that are geographically adjacent: Mylapore and the Kapaleeshwarar temple with the Marina and Fort St George; Adyar with the Theosophical Society and on down the ECR a short way. What does not work is crossing the city twice.
A named, timed Chennai itinerary that fits inside 8 hours and 80 km — in the right order, with the timings a driver would actually give you — is the one thing missing from this page, and it is coming from driver interviews rather than from a tourism listing, because the order and the timings are the part that matters.
Corporate and event use
Steady demand for half-day corporate use around the OMR and Guindy business districts, and for wedding-season family transport between November and February, when a car and driver for the day is more useful than individual trips.
Booking local packages in Chennai
Call or WhatsApp with the date, the time and the number of passengers, and we quote the full fare rather than a per-km rate to work out yourself. The driver's name and number reach you before the trip, not on the day.
Other services in Chennai: airport taxi , outstation , drop taxi , tour packages , wedding car rental , corporate car rental . Full rate card on the pricing page, and the vehicle itself on the Ertiga page.
All bookings include a professional driver. We do not offer self-drive rentals.
Local Packages in Chennai — FAQs
What counts as local in Chennai?
Travel within the city's limits. Chennai sprawls, so the practical answer is what matters: central Chennai, Adyar, Velachery, Anna Nagar and the inner OMR stretch are local. Sriperumbudur, Mahabalipuram, Kanchipuram and the far end of OMR are not — those are priced per km as outstation. We tell you which applies at the point of booking, not afterwards.
How are the 8 hours and 80 km counted?
From garage-out to garage-in — the standard in this market. That means the time the car leaves our base to the time it returns, not the time you were in it. We state it plainly because operators who do not are relying on you assuming otherwise.
What if I go over the hours or the kilometres?
Extra kilometres and extra hours are charged at the published rates in the table above. Both are on the rate card so you can work out the cost of a longer day before you commit to it.
Is a package or a per-km outstation rate better for a day trip to Mahabalipuram?
Neither, usually — Mahabalipuram is outside the city, so it is priced per km, and for a full day with waiting a round trip is normally the right structure. Ask us and we will price it properly rather than stretching a local package to fit.
Can I use a local package for an airport drop?
You can, but the flat airport fare is almost always cheaper for a single pickup or drop. A package makes sense when the car stays with you for a half or full day.
